Manuel Ángel scored the goal for the academy team in the second half, but Alcorcón equalised soon after.
Real Madrid Castilla drew with Alcorcón in their sixth and final warm-up game before the start of the league season. Manuel Ángel scored the goal for Arbeloa's team, who brought to an end a demanding pre-season with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. The academy team's league opener will be on Friday, 29 August against Lugo at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium (7.15 pm CEST).
Castilla began the game on top, as they have been in this pre-season. The Madridistas' long periods of possession were countered by a solid defensive unit that began to get more and more on the ball as the minutes went by and evened up the clash. The best chance of the first half came in the last move, but Loren Zúñiga's shot from the edge of the six-yard box went just over.
The scenario changed after the restart, with the Whites throwing themselves forward in attack. However, Alcorcón stifled their opponents again. Llorente had a chance to score in the 70th minute, but Fran González, who had not been involved in the whole game, made a great low save.
Goals in the closing stages
When the opposition were at their best, Manuel Angel stepped up. The Madrid captain had already had several dangerous chances. He latched onto a rebound in the box to beat Ayesa with a cross-shot (79'). However, Alcorcón managed to level the score with a header from Mariano shortly after (85'). The game ended in a draw and Castilla will be looking forward to the start of the season.
