Manuel Ángel, Edgar, Palacios, David Jiménez and Gonzalo all featured in the Spanish U19 team that took part in the U19 European Championship finals in Malta. The team coached by José Lana qualified after finishing top of Group 3 in the Elite Round. After finishing top of the group stage, they lost to Italy in the semi-finals.

The Spanish national team ended the group stage in first place and lost to Italy, second in Group A, at the Ta' Qali National Stadium.
 
Group Stage:
Iceland -Spain 1-2
Spain got their tournament off to a winning start against Iceland at the Centenary Stadium. Gonzalo, Palacios and Manuel Ángel were all named in the starting lineup. The first played the full clash, the second was replaced on 83 minutes and the third with 92 on the clock. Edgar came off the bench in injury time, while David Jiménez was not involved.
 
Greece-Spain 0-5
Spain ran riot in their second group game at the Gozo Stadium to seal their place in the semifinals. Manuel Ángel and Palacios played a key role, scoring the second and third goals respectively. Gonzalo was also named in the starting XI, while Edgar came off the bench with 66 minutes gone and David Jiménez didn't feature.
 
Spain-Norway 0-0
Spain closed out the Group Stage with a draw against Norway at the Ta' Qali National Stadium that saw them qualify for the semi-finals as group winners. David Jiménez and Edgar played the full 90 minutes while Manuel Ángel was involved for the first half. César Palacios came on after the break and Gonzalo took to the pitch with 67 on the clock.
