The Real Madrid Under-19s missed out on the chance to play for the Champions Cup in Sunday's final. Arbeloa's side lost narrowly to Valencia in the semi-finals of the tournament at the Estadio Municipal El Toralín in Ponferrada. The academy side, who were champions of Group 5 of the División de Honor, almost took the game to extra time, but a goal from Valencia in the 94th minute decided the tie.

The first half was an evenly matched affair and, although both teams had chances to open the scoring, the game went into the break with the score level at 0-0. The Whites were dominant early in the second half. However, Valencia netted the first goal of the game with a goal from Aimar from the penalty spot (55'). The Madridistas did not give up and equalised, also from the penalty spot, through Barroso (86'). However, in stoppage time, Otorbi made it 1-2 to Valencia.
