The reserve team, who needed nothing less than a win, were unable to overcome Eldense in the second leg of the play-offs.
Real Madrid Castilla couldn't beat Eldense in the second leg of the playoff final for promotion to the Second Division. In a tie which didn't involve a penalty shoot-out, the 4-4 aggregate scoreline was enough to see the Alicante side prevail, as they finished higher than our team during the regular season. Rafa Marín and Dotor scored in a strong first half from Raúl's side, but the home side took the game into extra time. Arribas again gave the reserve team the lead with a penalty in the 108th minute, but Ortuño levelled the scores again to deny Castilla.
The match kicked off at a high intensity, but little by little Castilla began to establish their tempo and took control of the ball. Raúl's men had a great chance in the 23rd minute when Arribas' cross was narrowly missed by Dotor. Two minutes later, Rafa Marín was more fortunate. Another superb cross from Arribas from a free-kick left the centre-back in a good position to head home and make it 1-0.
The visitors looked to hit back, but it was our team who went on to double the lead thanks to Dotor's goal in the 34th minute. A shot from our captain, toward the back post after good combination play between Obrador and Álvaro. It appeared that the sides would go in at the break with two goals in it, but Nieto headed the ball home just before the end of the first half to reduce the deficit.

After the interval, Eldense capitalised on the positive momentum of the goal and went in search of the equaliser that would earn them promotion. In the 67th minute, Carlos Hernández made it 2-2 with a fierce shot. The home side had another great chance in stoppage time, but Luis López came up with a spectacular save to keep Castilla in it and send the game into extra time.

Castilla made a lively start to extra time and, went ahead again in the 108th minute, when Arribas earned a penalty that he converted himself. Eldense, however, managed to make it 3-3 five minutes later. The constant time wasting by the home side prevented our team from doing more. Furthermore, in the last move of the game, Raúl's team called for a penalty after a foul on Pablo Ramón which the referee failed to award and Eldense ended up winning a tie in which our team deserved more.
