2-3: Into the Last 16 of the Youth League
Juvenil A defeated Leipzig with a brace from Nico Paz and a goal by Jacobo to secure the top spot in the group.
The Juvenil A team earned a hard-fought victory over Leipzig to finish first of Group F and progress to the Last 16 of the Youth League. The hosts opened the scoring, but before the break Nico Paz bagged a brace to turn the game on its head. Jacobo increased the madridista’s lead in the second half before Leipzig pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, as the game finish 2-3. Arbeloa’s side, who finished the match with ten men after two yellow cards led to Jacobo’s dismissal, will end the group stage on Wednesday 2 November against Celtic at the Alfredo Di Stéfano.
The opening twenty minutes were closely fought, with few clearcut chances for either side. The first opportunity fell to Álex Jiménez, whose header was pushed away by the goalkeeper. Atom opening the scoring for Leipzig when he got on the end of a corner kick in the 26th minute. However, in the space of twelve minutes, the madridistas turned the game around through Nico Paz. But the goal scorer conceded a penalty which was converted by Weber in the 60th minute 2-3. The hosts applied the pressure as they went in search of an equaliser and Madrid had the chance to seal the win, but the scoreline remained the same, as Juvenil A progress to the Last 16 of the Youth League.
