0-0: Castilla draw against Unionistas
Raúl's boys enjoyed several chances to win the game but remain unbeaten at Real Madrid City in pre-season.
Real Madrid Castilla's sixth pre-season friendly ends in a draw. Raúl's boys, who deserved more and had several chances to win the game against Unionistas de Salamanca, are still unbeaten at Real Madrid City in this pre-season campaign having played four games. The other three homes clashes so far have all ended in victory. Our academy side have another friendly lined up at the Di Stéfano for this Sunday against Rayo Majadahonda 11:00 am.
The madridistas took the initiative going forward throughout the first half, with Víctor Muñoz wasting no time in trying his luck from distance, only to see his effort whistle just wide of the post 5’. The team from Salamanca upped the intensity and began to create chances, without ever really testing the home goalkeeper. With twenty minutes gone, Noel tested the opposition shot-stopper with a long-range effort which was turned behind. Seven minutes later, Peter darted into the box from the right-hand side but Iván Martínez denied him once again. Carrillo and Álvaro Rodríguez both had chances to open the scoring prior to half-time but the visitors' back line stood strong and the teams headed into the break all square.
Luck deserts the youth team
As the teams came out for the second half, Castilla continued to play on the front foot. Noel could have put them ahead early on when his shot from the left corner of the box was expertly saved again. With 55’ on the clock, Theo enjoyed the best chance of the game, his sublime free-kick coming crashing back off the bar. From that point on, the chances largely dried up and neither team was able to craft any real danger. The closing stages were end-to-end and the visitors had a good chance to win it, only to be denied by Diego Piñeiro.
