Ancelotti opens the Universidad Europea Real Madrid Graduate School course 2023/24
'Real Madrid is like a family and working in this kind of atmosphere gets the best out of you,' explained the madridista coach.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, the club's Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño and the Director General of the Universidad Europea Real Madrid Graduate School were tasked with inaugurating the 2023/24 academic year at the Real Madrid City auditorium. The event which gets the school's eighteenth year underway was also attended by Elena Gazapo, Dean of the Universidad Europea, Marisa Sáenz, Managing Director of the Universidad Europea Real Madrid Graduate School, and Miguel Pardeza, Head of Postgraduate Programs at the Universidad Europea Real Madrid Graduate School.
Following a video chronicling Ancelotti's time at Real Madrid and the ten titles he has won with our club, the Italian coach took to the microphone: 'Real Madrid is like a family and those of us who live at this club every day come to work surrounded by family. The love of the fans can be felt in that way. Working in a family environment always gets the best out of you. It's the biggest club in the world but I always highlight the familiar atmosphere here.”

“From that moment on, Real Madrid won various Champions League titles in a row and I hope the run can continue. I think it will do because the future of this club is already secure thanks to the structure of the squad.'
How football has evolved
“It has changing, it's changing now and it will continue to change. From the intensity to the rules, training and methodology. The sport is very different to the one played in the 90s. Players are more professional nowadays. I'm still here 30 years later and that means I've adapted well to the changes.'

“Technology has changed our lives. My coaching staff always tell me I'm old school. I like technology and I try to have it help me in my work.'
A coach's job
“You need intelligent players and a club that supports you. I much prefer working to convince people than imposing myself.'

“It was a special season and we gradually built a fantastic atmosphere in the dressing room. The young lads and the veterans helped each other out because the older guys really understood the collective nature of things and the youngsters were extremely patient. That helped us through some really difficult moments. When you make the final after all that happened, confidence was sky high and all we had to do was keep it up.'
Butragueño: “We will all give it our best to make the most of this wonderful opportunity”
Butragueño welcomed this year's students: “This project began back in 2006 with the uncertainty and hopes characteristic of pioneers and those who forge new paths. You have all made a very valuable decision: to try and improve your education to address the challenges that lie ahead of you. You have chosen us from among all the options and we understand the sacrifice that means for you and your families. We will all give our best because that is what we expect from you, to make the most of this wonderful opportunity. We want to instil values in you that are the essence of this club and have helped Real Madrid set the benchmark in sport worldwide.'
“A total of 120 of our own professionals make up the teaching staff here and that is a privilege for you. The club offers an exclusive internship program just for the school. You will have the chance to enjoy a unique experience, the Real Madrid experience. Make the most of it. At Real Madrid I learned that you must put individual talent at the service of the team. You must respect all people, your own and your rivals, because when you show respect, you are shown respect back. I also learned that no matter how hard things get, Real Madrid never gives up and fights to the end. That is why at times, we achieve things that would be impossible for others. We wish you all the best.'
Elena Gazapo: “Education par excellence and contact with the world of elite-level sport”
“The academic model covers all areas of knowledge related to the world of sport and technology has a crucial role to play. An education par excellence from the best professionals in the industry and close contact with the realities of elite-level sport. This year, we will introduce artificial intelligence and we want you to learn from it and how to use it. An international sentiment is undoubtedly one of the hallmarks of this school.'
The event concluded with a conversation between Ancelotti and Butragueño in the presence of the school's new students, who had the chance to pose questions to the madridista coach. The opening ceremony was completed with the traditional family photo.
