Winner of the 1964 European Championship with Spain
Amancio played against the Soviet Union in the final at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Amancio was also a legend with the national team and played an important part in Spain's first title: the 1964 European Championship. He scored in the qualifiers against Northern Ireland and grabbed a brace against the Republic of Ireland. He also scored the winning goal in extra time at the Santiago Bernabéu, beating Hungary to qualify for the final. Amancio played in the final match, where Spain beat the Soviet Union 2-1.
Since making his debut for Spain against Romania on 25 November 1962, Amancio was capped 42 times and scored 11 goals. He also played in the 1966 World Cup in England, scoring one goal. He played his last match for the national team on 13 February 1974 against Yugoslavia.
