On 12 January 2020, Real Madrid lifted their 11th Spanish Super Cup at the King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). It was the first edition to be played in a knockout format and outside our country. In the final, the Madridistas faced Atlético and, after the match ended 0-0, the trophy was decided in a penalty shoot-out. The Whites scored their first four spot-kicks, while Atlético missed two. Valverde was voted MVP of the final.
On the road to the final, Zidane's side defeated Valencia in the semi-finals. The match was one to remember, with an ‘Olympic goal’ by Kroos paving the way to victory. Isco and Modrić, after a superb individual run, sealed their place in the final 1-3.
