79th anniversary of club's eighth Copa de España crown

On 9 June 1946, Real Madrid collected their eighth Copa de España trophy. The Whites faced Valencia and the match was played at the Montjuïc stadium in Barcelona. Madrid dominated from the start and took the lead courtesy of a Barinaga goal in the opening minutes. Pruden's brace increased their lead. In the closing stages, Valencia pulled one back from the penalty spot.

On the road to the final at Montjuïc, the Madridistas beat Racing de Ferrol, Ceuta, Alcoyano and Real Oviedo in the two-legged ties. Madrid was coached by Jacinto Quincoces.
