On June 22, 1947, Real Madrid retained the title against Espanyol.
79 years ago, Real Madrid won its ninth Spanish Cup, successfully defending the title it had won in the previous edition. Its opponent in the final on June 22, 1947, was Espanyol, whom it defeated 2-0 in a match held at the Riazor stadium. The game was evenly matched throughout and was decided in extra time. Our team secured the title in the second half of extra time thanks to goals from Vidal and Pruden.
On the road to the final, Real Madrid, coached that season by Baltasar Albéniz, triumphed in two-legged ties against Ferrol, Betis, Castellón, and Athletic Club.
