On 23 September 1953, Alfredo Di Stéfano made his Real Madrid debut in a friendly against Nancy. La Saeta Rubia did not disappoint in his first appearance before the Madridista fans, scoring his first goal as a Real Madrid player with a header.

Di Stéfano played for Real Madrid from 1953 to 1964, scoring 308 goals in 396 official matches. The greatest player of all time guided the club to five consecutive European Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, two Latin Cups, eight league titles, one Copa de España and one Small Club World Cup. He was also the top scorer in LaLiga on five occasions.

Official debut
Di Stéfano's first official match for Real Madrid came a few days later, on 27 September, on the third day of the league season against Racing Santander. The Madridistas once again witnessed his scoring instinct, as he grabbed one of the goals in a 4-2 victory. His exploits with Real Madrid were rewarded with the Ballon d'Or in 1957 and 1959. His career was later recognised with the only Super Ballon d'Or in history.
