It's been 71 years since Real Madrid won their third Spanish Cup in basketball. On 6 June 1954, the Whites lifted the trophy after beating Joventut 56-41 in the final. Madrid, which had won the competition for the first time three years earlier, clearly dominated the 1950s, reaching eight Cup finals and winning five of them.
After an evenly matched first half, Real Madrid made the difference in the second half to win the final by 15 points at the Frontón Fiesta Alegre in Madrid. Galíndez was the standout player in a team that included Freddy Borrás as player-coach.
