On 8 September 1955, Real Madrid played their first ever game in the European Cup. In the inaugural edition of the tournament, our team got underway with a 0-2 win over Servette in Geneva. Miguel Muñoz became the first madridista goalscorer in the European Cup, while Rial closed out the scoring on the day for the side coached by Villalonga.
That season marked the beginning of Real Madrid's legendary status in the competition, as our team got their hands on the trophy thanks to victories over Servette, Partizan and Milan on the way to the final. In the showpiece, the madridistas became the first club to have their name etched into the tournament's history, with a win over Stade de Reims in Paris.
