On 15 June 1957, Real Madrid clinched their fifth Copa de España basketball title. The Whites prevailed in the final in Vigo against Aismalíbar by a narrow 54-50 score. Alfonso Martínez was the top scorer of the game with 22 points. Real Madrid reached the final after defeating Orillo Verde in the previous round (53-42), while the Catalan team had beaten Barcelona in the other tie.
The team, under the guidance of Ignacio Pinedo, won their second consecutive trophy and their fifth in seven years. It was a fantastic season for Real Madrid, as a month earlier, they had clinched the first edition of the league competition.
