On 2 April 1958, Real Madrid beat the Hungarian team Vasas 4-0 in the first leg of the semi-final of the European Cup, on their way to winning their third continental title. Alfredo Di Stéfano, with a hat-trick, was the star of the match. La Saeta Rubia (The Blonde Arrow) left an image for posterity in the celebration of one of his goals, which was immortalised by photographer Agustín Vega.

In the photo, in addition to Alfredo Di Stéfano taking a spectacular leap with his arms raised, his teammate Rial also appears, as well as several opposing defenders facing their goal, contemplating the goal that the best footballer of all time had just scored.

Over the years, the photo has become one of the most emblematic of Di Stéfano, the footballer who led Real Madrid to five consecutive European Cups. This image also inspired Pedro Montes to create the statue over two metres high that presides over the entrance to the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium at Real Madrid City.
