Today is the 59th anniversary of Real Madrid's tenth Spanish Cup win. Our basketball team beat Joventut in a final played in Terrasa on 19 June, 1966. The Catalan outfit led in the first half and took a 9-point lead into half-time (26-35). But Real Madrid turned the game around in the second half, completing a comeback for a 62-61 win.
The game was dominated by Luyk, who posted 24 points, and Moncho Monsalve, with 19. The victory was Real Madrid's tenth in the Spanish Cup, and the team coached by Robert Busnel also lifted the league trophy in the 1965/66 season.
