On this day 50 years ago, Real Madrid's basketball team clinched their 16th League title. On 25 April 1974, our team were crowned champions with a convincing win over Baskonia at home (120-62). The squad, coached by Pedro Ferrándiz, extended their dominance of the competition by winning the title for the seventh consecutive season (they went on to make it ten in a row between 1968 and 1977).

It was a perfect campaign for the madridistas, who also got their hands on the European Cup and the Copa, while their superiority in the league was reflected in their unbeaten status (27 wins and a draw). In fact, they clinched the trophy mathematically with four games left to play. On an individual level, Szczerbiak was the team's standout performer, top-scoring with 818 points.
