42 years since the 15th Copa de España
On 13 April 1982, Real Madrid lifted the trophy in Valladolid, beating Sporting de Gijón in the final.
Real Madrid clinched their 15th Copa de España with a 2-1 win over Sporting de Gijón on 13 April, 1982. The team went ahead early on thanks to a Jiménez own goal, before the Asturian side drew level from the penalty spot before half-time. With 57 minutes on the clock, Ángel struck the goal that would hand the madridistas the title.
On their way to the final at Valladolid's Nuevo José Zorrilla, Real Madrid came past Málaga in the Round of 16, Atlético de Madrid in the quarter-finals and Real Sociedad in the semis.
