Today marks the 40th anniversary of Real Madrid's 19th Copa de España basketball crown. On 28 November 1984, the Whites edged Joventut in a final in Badalona. The Madridistas were dominant in the first half and held an 18-point lead at half-time (47-29). The Madridistas then managed their lead in the second half and went on to clinch the title with a 90-76 win over the Catalans.
Fernando Martín, with 24 points, and Iturriaga and Jackson, with 20, were the game's standout performers. Real Madrid, coached by Lolo Sainz, claimed their 19th trophy in the competition in a season in which they also picked up the league and the Spanish Super Cup.
