It was on 23 August 1997 that Real Madrid lifted their fifth Spanish Super Cup. In that edition, our team beat Barcelona 5-3 on aggregate in the final. The first leg was played at the Nou Camp, where Madrid lost 2-1. Three days later, they came from behind to win the trophy with a convincing 4-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Raúl was the standout performer, scoring Madrid's only goal at the Nou Camp and then grabbing a brace at home to guide the team to victory. In the return leg, Mijatovic and Seedorf also scored.
