On this day 26 years ago, Real Madrid clinched the second of their eight world champion titles when they beat Vasco de Gama to lift the Intercontinental Cup. The showpiece took place at Tokyo's National Stadium and Raúl delivered a historic madridismo moment with the famous Aguanís goal. The forward decided the clash in the final minutes, cutting into the box and leaving two defenders on the deck before stroking the ball past the goalkeeper.

Guus Hiddink's side went ahead through an own goal early on, when Roberto Carlos crossed from the left and Nasa attempted to clear, only to see the ball end up in his own net. The Brazilians were level after the break thanks to Juninho, before Raúl's legendary goal decided the finale.
