23 years since Ronaldo made his debut
The Brazilian bagged a brace in his first game against Alavés, going on to net 104 goals for Real Madrid.
On this day 23 years ago, Ronaldo made his Real Madrid debut. On 6 October 2002, the Brazilian's legendary spell at our club got underway. His first madridista game came at the Bernabéu, a clash with Alavés that would live long in the memory of all the fans in attendance. He needed just a single minute on the pitch to notch the first of his 104 goals as a madridista. The forward then completed his brace to round off the perfect debut.
Ronaldo remained at Real Madrid until the beginning of 2007 and played a key role in the team winning 1 Intercontinental Cup, when he was named Player of the Match, 2 LaLiga titles and 1 Spanish Super Cup. He was also the top goalscorer in LaLiga 2003/04 during his time at the club. Add to that 2 Ballon d'Or awards and 2 World Cups, and it's no surprise he's widely acknowledged as one of the game's all-time great strikers.
