23 years since the first European Super Cup
NEWS.

Twenty-three years ago, Real Madrid won their first European Super Cup. The Whites beat Feyenoord 3-1 at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco, after winning La Novena in Glasgow that year with goals from Raúl and Zidane's historic volley.
Against Feyenoord, Real Madrid took an early lead: in the 15th minute, Roberto Carlos's cross from the left was deflected into his own net by Paauwe. The Brazilian full-back was again in the thick of the action six minutes later, making it 2-0 from inside the area.
The Dutch side reduced the deficit with a free kick from Van Hooijdonk, but Guti sealed the title in the 60th minute with a header that made it 3-1. Throughout the competition's history, Real Madrid have won six Super Cups in six different cities: Monaco, Cardiff, Trondheim, Skopje, Helsinki and Warsaw.
