Eighth anniversary of club's 10th Spanish Super Cup
On 16 August 2017, Real Madrid lifted the trophy after defeating Barcelona.
On 16 August 2017, Real Madrid claimed their tenth Spanish Super Cup. In that edition, the Whites beat Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate in the final. The first leg was played at Camp Nou, where Madrid secured a convincing win (1-3). Three days later, they clinched the trophy with another victory (2-0) at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Asensio was the standout performer, scoring two superb left-footed strikes from outside the area in both games. Cristiano Ronaldo was also on target in the first leg and Benzema in the second.
