La Undécima celebrates its ninth anniversary
On 28 May 2016, Real Madrid beat Atlético in Milan on penalties.

Real Madrid clinched their eleventh European Cup at the San Siro stadium (Milan). It was the second final against Atlético, which on this occasion was decided in a penalty shoot-out. As was the case for La Décima, Sergio Ramos scored the first goal of the match. Atlético equalised through Carrasco.
The 1-1 scoreline remained the same throughout extra time and led to an unforgettable penalty shoot-out. Lucas Vázquez, Marcelo, Bale and Ramos scored their spot-kicks before Juanfran hit the post with their fourth penalty. Cristiano Ronaldo did not miss the crucial spot-kick and secured La Undécima. With this victory, Zidane clinched the first of his three Champions League titles as coach in his debut season with the first team.
