Real Madrid's basketball team were crowned European champions for the eighth time in their history on 13 April 1995. Fifteen years after clinching La Séptima, our team reigned over the continent once more, when they beat Olympiacos in the final played in Zaragoza. That squad, coached by Obradovic and led by Arvydas Sabonis, will live long in the collective madridismo memory.
Our team reached the final by beating Limoges in the semi-finals (49-62). Despite Olympiacos' big potential, Real Madrid dominated the game and went into the half-time break at 38-28. By the end, they had stretched the lead to 73-61 to get their hands on the trophy. Sabonis (23 points) and Arlauckas (16) were top scorers for Real Madrid, who remain the most decorated team in the history of the European Cup with 11 titles.
