It's been 48 years since Real Madrid won their 18th Spanish Basketball Cup. On 26 June 1977, the Whites beat Barcelona 97-71 in the final in Palma de Mallorca. Brabender was the top scorer with 33 points. On the road to the decisive match, the madridistas finished first in the group stage and beat Joventut in the semi-finals in a two-legged tie.
The squad led by Lolo Sainz continued their dominance in the competition, winning their seventh Cup in the last eight editions. It was also their third title of the season, having previously won the Intercontinental Cup and la Liga.
