Today is the 91st anniversary of Real Madrid's second LaLiga title win. On 19 March 1933, the team made mathematically certain of getting their hands on the trophy in the penultimate game. The madridistas ran riot against Arenas de Guecho, coming away with an 8-2 victory thanks to a Luis Regueiro hat-trick, doubles for Olivares and Hilario and a Lazcano strike.
That season saw Real Madrid finish top of the table on 28 points, followed by Athletic, on 26. Olivares became the club's first Pichichi and Ricardo Zamora conceded the league's fewest goals. The madridista squad was coached by Firth, and retained the title they had taken in the previous year.
