Tenth Spanish Cup crown clinched 63 years ago today
On 8 July 1962, Real Madrid edged out Sevilla with a last-minute comeback to win the Spanish Cup (2-1).
Real Madrid won the Spanish Cup for the tenth time in their history on this day in 1962. The team lifted the trophy at the Santiago Bernabéu against Sevilla, following a dramatic end to the final, which went the way of the home side in the dying embers. Puskas was the star performer, netting twice - first from the penalty spot and then again in the last minute to hand Madrid the title.
Miguel Muñoz 's men secured their second trophy of the season after having won the league title. Bagging an average of more than 3 goals per game in this year's Cup (28 goals in 9 games), the team reached the final after knocking out Real Sociedad, Elche, Barcelona and Zaragoza on their way to the showpiece event.
