We won our sixth European Cup 58 years ago
Real Madrid beat Partizan 2-1 on 11 May 1966 thanks to goals from Amancio and Serena.
The Heysel Stadium in Brussels was the setting for Real Madrid's sixth European Cup title 58 years ago. Our team enhanced its legend with a spectacular victory in the final against Partizan. To lift the title, Miguel Muñoz's men had to come back from Vasovic's early goal, and they did it with two great goals scored by Amancio and Serena.
The first was a stroke of genius from the Galician legend, who dribbled past his marker and fired a low shot past the keeper. The second was scored by Serena with a long-range half-volley. Real Madrid turned the scoreline around in six minutes and lifted the title six years later.
Unbeaten at home
On the road to the final, our team won all their matches at the Bernabéu, with Feyenoord, Kilmarnock and Anderlecht as opponents in the first rounds. In the semi-final they knocked out Inter Milan, winners of the two previous editions.
