On June 29, 1974, Real Madrid lifted their 12th Spanish Cup. They achieved this after a spectacular match at the Vicente Calderón against Barcelona. The Clásico was dominated by one side, and Santillana put our team ahead in the 6th minute. In the second half, Rubiñán, Aguilar, and Pirri sealed the 4-0 victory, clinching the title for the madridistas. Zoco, who retired at the end of that season, entered the pitch in the final minutes to collect his last trophy as a madridista.

The squad, led by Luis Molowny, had an exceptional campaign with an impressive tally of 26 goals in 7 matches. To reach the final, the madridistas had to overcome Betis in the Round of 16, Granada in the quarterfinals, and UD Las Palmas in the semifinals.
