Biriukov and Iturriaga were Madrid's top scorers in the match with 19 points. In the semi-finals, Madrid defeated Zaragoza 100-96, while Joventut beat Barcelona in the other tie.
That squad, coached by Lolo Sainz, thus retained the Cup title against the same opponent as in the previous edition. Moreover, that season ended with a double, as Real Madrid were also Liga champions.
