On 15 June 1985, Real Madrid added a new title to their trophy cabinet. It was the Copa de la Liga, a competition they played in for four seasons, between 1983 and 1986. The final, like the play-offs, was played over two legs and our team came back from 3-2 down in the first leg to win the trophy in the second leg with a 2-0 win.

PinedaSantillanaStielike and Míchel all scored for Madrid in the final stage, but to win the League Cup Real Madrid also had to beat Barcelona and Sporting Gijón in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.
