On this day 37 years ago, Real Madrid's basketball team lifted their 21st Copa de España. On 17 November 1988, our team got their hands on the trophy when they beat Barcelona in the final (85-81). The Catalan outfit dominated the first half, taking a five-point lead into the break (43-48). Following the restart, though, Lolo Sainz's boys reacted to complete the turnaround and add to their trophy haul.

Petrovic played a key role in the final, which was held in A Coruña, finishing as top scorer with 27 points. He was followed by Rogers, with 23. The win marked the madridistas' first title of the 1988/89 campaign, before they went on to win the FIBA Saporta Cup thanks to Petrovic's exhibition.
