It was on 23 May 1993 that the Whites clinched the title by winning the fifth and final game of the playoffs against Joventut. Madrid won the first two games of the series at home, but Joventut won the next two in Badalona. In the decisive 78-69 win, Sabonis was the star player with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Lithuanian was named MVP in the final.
Real Madrid was also the best team in the regular season with a record of 25 wins and 6 defeats. In the playoffs, they faced Valvi Girona (round of 16), Elosúa León (quarter-finals) and Estudiantes (semi-finals). With the victory in the final against Joventut, the team led by Clifford Luyk completed a double that season by also winning the Copa del Rey against the green and blacks.
