27 years since club's seventh European Cup
On 20 May 1998, Mijatovic gave the Whites the victory with a historic goal against Juventus.

Today marks the 27th anniversary of one of the most special moments in the history of the Madridistas in Amsterdam. Real Madrid edged Juventus in the final of the European Cup courtesy of a goal by Mijatovic and lifted a trophy that had not been won since 1966. The epic occasion of this victory was even greater when they defeated the Italian team, who had reached the final for the third consecutive year.
Before reaching the final on 20 May 1998, Real Madrid topped the group stage by beating Rosenborg, Olympiacos and Porto. In the following knockout rounds, the Whites eliminated two German teams: Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, who were the previous champions. Karembeu, who joined in the middle of that season, was instrumental in both ties with three goals.
