Today marks 26 years since the seventh European Cup
On 20 May 1998, Mijatovic was the key man in the clash with his historic goal against Juventus.
On this day 26 years ago, madridismo enjoyed one of the most incredible moments in its history in Amsterdam. Real Madrid beat Juventus in the European Cup final thanks to Mijatovic's solitary goal to get their hands on the trophy they had last won back in 1966. The significance of the win was greater still, given the win over the Italians, who had reached the final for the third successive year.
On the way to the showpiece event on 20 May 1998, Real Madrid finished top of their group, ahead of Rosenborg, Olympiacos and Porto. In the knock-out rounds, our team came past two German sides: Bayer Leverkusen and reigning champions Borussia Dortmund. Karembeu, who came to the club halfway through the season, played a key role in both games, contributing three goals.
