Today marks 20 years since the first stone was laid at Real Madrid City
On 12 May 2004, Alfredo Di Stéfano and Dani Carvajal led the historic moment.
The 12th of May 2004, under the presidency of Florentino Pérez, saw the first stone laid on the greatest sporting facility in the world. Alfredo Di Stéfano and Dani Carvajal were the leading figures in the launch of this project, which is now a source of pride for all madridistas. Inaugurated on 30 September 2005, Real Madrid Sport City has continued to grow ever since, remaining at the forefront of international sport.
It is home to the day-to-day life of the football first team, whether at the training facilities or at the basecamps held at their residence. Real Madrid City is also the training venue for the women's first team and all the club's youth teams, as well as where they play their competitive games.
Basketball
The basketball section is also present at the facility, training at the sports centre. The first team and youth basketball teams are both based at Real Madrid City, while it also houses the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium, the youth academy residence and the corporate office building.
