Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez opened the Extraordinary General Assembly 2021 with a speech in which he reflected: “Three years ago, in this Representative Member Assembly, we were facing a crucial point in overcoming one of our greatest challenges. We wanted to make the Santiago Bernabéu a unique place in the world as our history demands. And that is precisely what we are doing. The best stadium with the best players and the best fans in the world. Together we are building an exciting destiny. A Santiago Bernabéu which will be the pride of madridismo and add further to the greatest legend in world football. An example of our sacrifice and hard work, and an eternal reference to our values".

The works are progressing and now we have another chance to culminate this amazing dream, a new project that we were unable to carry out until this point because nobody had found the engineering solution or technological implementation which could make holding events compatible with preserving the stadium's pitch".
At the forefront of innovation
“We have managed to achieve something spectacular by implementing a multifunctional system conceived exclusively for the Santiago Bernabéu.
An automation process will allow the playing surface to be removed from the stadium and maintained in optimum conditions in a vast underground greenhouse, so it can be ready at any time and will be in perfect condition to be used whenever a football match is to be played".
“This technology and the system in place gives us an extraordinary array of possibilities for the stadium, which will now be able to host all kinds of events: huge sporting clashes, exhibitions, national and international conferences, large concerts, all kinds of presentations, etc".
Solvency
“The Santiago Bernabéu will be the perfect place to hold these kinds of events. First, due to its capacity of over 80 thousand people, as well as its modernity, safety, comfort and accessibility. The budget for these new works is 225 million euros- Given Real Madrid's financial solvency, we have access to financing in remarkable conditions, similar or even better to the ones with which we agreed the general remodelling of the stadium".
