Florentino Pérez: 'La Décima belongs to every Real Madrid fan and unity is our greatest strength'

The Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, opened the 2014 Ordinary General Meeting of Delegate Members with a speech in which he discussed topics including unity among madridistas, and the European champions: 'La Décima belongs to each and every Real Madrid fan and our togetherness is our greatest strength. 2014 has been a very good year, because it is the first time in our history that we have achieved the double of European Cup and Copa del Rey; but now we want more.'

'At this club, there is no time to rest on our laurels. We are demanding of ourselves and we always have one challenge: to improve. A Real Madrid whose members are united is always a Real Madrid that's more powerful.'

'We face the season ahead with a squad of excellent players. We have complete confidence in them, in the coach and in the coaching team. In Cardiff, we won our second European Super Cup in a match that brought about the admiration of the world's football fans and of the whole of the media. A further trophy that allows us to look ahead with the utmost excitement to another of the major dates on this year's calendar: the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in Morocco this December.'

La Décima
“It was an obsession for all madridistas, and we worked continually and gave our all until we won it, as is shown by the fact that we reached the semi-finals in three consecutive years. We all know what the European Cup symbolises for this club. We were its founders and, since then, it has been a part of our make-up. The trophy saw the legend of Real Madrid born, and it is a legend that has grown.'

'Millions of people from all around the world thank us for having achieved this dream, but it's us who thank all of them for being by our side. We have seen images that we will never forget. Children crying tears of joy in different corners of the world. Thousands of people filling squares in Poland, Nicaragua, the United States, Indonesia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and all across the globe.'

Economic strength
'Every day, the scenario is more difficult and more competitive. Nevertheless, we've achieved a level of economic leadership that sees records beaten every year and that allows us to pursue a spectacular, great sporting project. For a second consecutive year, the prestigious publication Forbes has again named us the most valuable sports team in the world. And I think we will be leaders in revenue for a tenth consecutive year.'

The values of Real Madrid
“Your loyalty towards Real Madrid is essential. Your support and your commitment are a source of pride and have been key to us getting to where we are now. Sometimes we are not fully conscious of the significance of our unity. It's true that some attempt to make the most of any issue to generate division, with the aim of making us weaker. But the Real Madrid members know our history perfectly and know of the strategic importance of stability and unity.'

'Everything we've achieved with this shirt throughout the 112 years of our history has been based on the strength of the unity between all of us and, of course, in that unbreakable faith with which to overcome challenges that might have seemed impossible.
