Real Madrid said goodbye to one of its legends: Raymond Kopa, who passed away at the age of 85, on 3 March 2017. He is remembered as one of the team that won the first European Cup. The Frenchman played for Real Madrid from 1956 to 1959 and during that time won the continental competition on three occasions.

Kopa was part of one of the best forward lines in the history of the game, alongside Rial, Puskas, Gento and Di Stéfano. He won three European Cups, two league titles and one Latin Cup. At Real Madrid he played 103 games, scoring 30 goals and winning the Ballon d'Or in 1958. He is also a legendary part of the history of Stade de Reims and the French national team.
