Emilio Butragueño has received the Golden Foot Legend award at the ceremony held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The committee in charge of presenting this prestigious accolade, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, highlighted the madridista legend's impressive individual and collective successes, and his goal-scoring prowess. Butragueño played for Real Madrid for 12 seasons, making 463 appearances and scoring 171 goals. He lifted 15 trophies with our club: 2 UEFA Cups, 6 LaLiga titles, 2 Copas del Rey, 4 Spanish Super Cups and 1 Copa de la Liga. He also scooped the Pichichi Trophy in the 1990/91 campaign. He also picked up 69 caps for the Spanish national side.

Golden Foot has been presenting a prize to the best footballer above the age of 28 every year since 2003, and is sponsored by Prince Albert. The gala also presents the Golden Foot Legend award to celebrated figures of the game. Alongside Emilio Butragueño this year, Fatih Terim and Juan Sebastián Verón also won awards in this category, and the footprint of all winners will be placed in the Champions Promenade in Monaco.
