Butragueño: “Today, we remember a lifetime of belonging to Real Madrid”
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, hosted the event: “Today we pay tribute to you. 50 and 60 years experiencing our beloved Real Madrid with a unique passion. Today, we remember a lifetime of belonging to Real Madrid. We travel through 60 years in time. The 1964-1965 season was unforgettable for Madridistas. In football, Real Madrid became champions of LaLiga for the fifth consecutive year, a milestone in the history of Spanish football. This 11th league title confirmed the club's supremacy in the national championship."

"It would take more than two decades for another club to win five consecutive league titles: and it was Real Madrid again, that beloved team that I know so well, because I had the honour of playing for them. It was in the eighties, alongside marvellous teammates. Together, we managed to equal this feat of the sixties that we remember today. In basketball, we also achieved another milestone for European sport: Real Madrid won the second of its 11 European Cups. Our club legends Emiliano and Luyk led the team to this success, which would be repeated two more times in this unforgettable decade: four European Cups in five years!”

“The 74-75 season ended with a league and cup double for our football team, a squad coached by our fondly remembered Miljan Miljanic. My dear honorary president, Pirri: a goal from you at Anoeta, in the 89th minute, made us champions of LaLiga for the 16th time. Incidentally, Pirri also scored in the penalty shoot-out that allowed us to win the Copa del Rey in 1975 at the Vicente Calderón against Atlético Madrid.”

Milestones in basketball
“In basketball, we also secured a double for our trophy cabinet. Real Madrid won its eighth consecutive league title. And they went on to win two more in a row in the following seasons: a decade in a row as league champions! This season, they also won the Copa del Rey in Jaén against Estudiantes, with a fantastic performance by another of our true legends, who unfortunately left us recently: Rafael Rullán. But over and above the trophies, the historic event that marks this 74-75 season is the farewell of the most successful coach in the history of our Basketball section: Pedro Ferrándiz, who won 4 European Cups, 12 league titles and 11 Copas, among many other titles.”
