France Football presented the madridista legend with the award which paid tribute to a remarkable career, beating off competition from Johan Cruyff and Michel Platini in the final vote. The French publication has only awarded the special prize once in its history, making the Blond Arrow the only player ever to boast the accolade in his trophy cabinet.
