3-3: Solidarity goal feast at Bernabéu with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund legends
The Whites' stadium hosted the 22nd edition of the event, the proceeds of the game will go to the employment integration programme for young people at risk or social vulnerability and to the socio-sports projects of the Real Madrid Foundation.
The Santiago Bernabéu staged the 12th edition of the Corazón Classic Match at the Bernabéu and it was a fantastic occasion of solidarity. The match brought together the legends of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund under the slogan Un pase para la esperanza (A pass for hope). The proceeds will go to the employment programme for young people at risk or socially vulnerable and to the socio-sports projects run by the Real Madrid Foundation.
Baptista, Raúl and Kroos got the goals for the Madridistas. The German, who called time on his professional career last year, was making his debut in this edition alongside other players who have recently made history at Real Madrid, such as Pepe, Varane and Marcelo. Bender, Barrios and Amoroso were on target for Dortmund.
Under the guidance of Camacho and Manolo Castro, Real Madrid took an early lead. Baptista made it 1-0 with a header from Marcelo's cross in the 5th minute. The German side reacted quickly and turned the score around with goals from Bender and Barrios. However, the Madridistas equalised shortly before the break. Marcelo's superb run inside the area resulted in a penalty that Toni Kroos converted to a standing ovation (36 mins).
Raúl adds the third
Buyo, who had prevented the Germans from going 2-3 up in the 40th minute with a fantastic save, came back to the Madridistas' rescue after the restart, parrying a fierce free-kick before being replaced by another newcomer, Kiko Casilla. The intensity remained the same in the second half and the Whites took the lead again. A corner from the right was nodded in by Varane before Raúl headed the ball home with an unstoppable header.
Dortmund equalise in final minutes
Pepe was involved on the offensive end with several chances, one of which crashed against the crossbar. Dortmund went on the attack in a bid to equalise and did so in the 87th minute through Amoroso. The Corazón Classic Match was once again a fantastic celebration of football and solidarity as the Santiago Bernabéu welcomed a host of glorious legends.
