The Bernabéu was thrilled by the historic match between the Dolphins and the Commanders
Our stadium was packed to capacity to host the first NFL game in Spain, in which Miami overcame Washington 16-13 in overtime.
The NFL landed in Spain for the first time in history, doing so at the home of Real Madrid: the Bernabéu. Our stadium, decked out for the occasion, enjoyed this unprecedented match between the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders. The week eleven game ended with a 16-13 victory for the Dolphins in overtime.
The excitement for this eagerly awaited event was palpable in the atmosphere several hours before kick-off. The area surrounding the Bernabéu was the setting for the fans' excitement. Tens of thousands of NFL fans from around the world gathered to cheer on both the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders, who responded by putting on an unforgettable show.
The first half
Before the start of the game, a minute's silence was held for former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, who passed away on 9 November. The flags of Spain and the United States were displayed on the field, the national anthems of both countries were played, and after a tribute to the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and a fireworks display, the game was underway. In a first half without any touchdowns, the game went into half-time with the score at 6-6 after two field goals by each team.
Half-time performances by Bizarrap and Daddy Yankee
During the half-time break, fans were also treated to a performance in true Super Bowl style. Bizarrap and Daddy Yankee presented their latest collaboration, BZRP Music Session #0/66, with a performance that left nobody disappointed. On stage, the two artists, accompanied by a band, put on a memorable show with light shows, flares and fireworks. The DJ also performed his song with Quevedo, Quédate.
Touchdowns arrive at the Bernabéu
After the show, the first touchdown of the match finally arrived. Deebo Samuel scored it for the Commanders and Tress Way added an extra point (6-13). Before the final quarter, a further light show, in which the crowd joined in with the flashes of their mobile phones, prepared the fans for the final 15 minutes.
The Dolphins equalise and win in extra time
Nothing was decided. Miami scored their first touchdown through Achane, and Patterson tied the game with a kick (13-13). The match could not have been any more exciting because, after regulation time ended with the score tied, it had to be settled in overtime. The Dolphins took the win in extra time thanks, once again, to a kick by Patterson (16-13). The Bernabéu, once again, made history.
