Official Announcement: Passing of César Luis Menotti

Real Madrid C. F., the club's President and its Board of Directors are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of César Luis Menotti, a legend of Argentinian and world football.

Real Madrid would like to convey their condolences and deepest sympathy to his family, to his clubs, to the Argentinean fans and to all his loved ones.

César Luis Menotti was a player and coach. During his playing career, he wore the jerseys of Rosario Central, Racing Club, Boca Juniors, New York Generals, Santos and Clube Atlético Juventus. He won an Argentine championship with Boca Juniors.

As a coach, he became a global legend in football. He coached numerous teams around the world and the Argentine national team, winning the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. In Spain, he coached F. C. Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid.

César Luis Menotti passed away at the age of 85. May he rest in peace.
