The launch of the Madrid Innovation District project
"This project is a unique opportunity for Madrid to become the great technological capital of southern Europe," said President Florentino Pérez.

The boardroom of Real Madrid City was the venue for the presentation of the Madrid Innovation District (MID) project, a new urban space that will be located on the grounds of Real Madrid City, where companies, researchers and entrepreneurs will work together, share knowledge and promote projects. Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid president; Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid; and José Luis Martínez-Almeida, mayor of Madrid, attended the event.
The aim of the project is to encourage the establishment of head offices for large global innovation and development companies, along with other types of companies with a focus on technological innovation, generating synergies and a collaborative environment.
The MID will be the most important technology district in Europe, a nerve centre where talent and technology come together to shape the future. It will be designed to attract the necessary talent and become a workspace and innovation hub that places Madrid at the epicentre of major international technology companies; a place where technology is in the air, where people can work, live, learn and have fun.
Real Madrid will contribute a unique space with great potential for the project: 850,000 m2 of land available in Valdebebas. This is a privileged enclave with a strategic location next to Adolfo Suárez Airport and IFEMA, and excellent connectivity to one of Madrid's nerve centres, the Santiago Bernabéu on the Paseo de la Castellana.
It will be a technological innovation district with a strategic design to bring together cutting-edge technology companies, academic institutions and research centres to act as a driver of knowledge, creativity and economic growth.
Our club will also contribute to the values that have shaped our history, our experience of success, and our global brand impact.
In this firm step towards the future taken by Real Madrid, sport and technology will come together to transform the experience of fans and athletes alike.
During his speech, President Florentino Pérez said: "We are facing a new great challenge to build together a great technological city that will allow Madrid to continue advancing as an example of innovation and cutting-edge technology in the world. This project is a unique opportunity for Madrid to become the great technological capital of southern Europe."
Isabel Díaz Ayuso: “It's an exciting challenge”
"We are at our best, we must take advantage of it, this must not be a flash in the pan, and, thanks to projects like this, there will be more jobs, more investment and more prosperity. I am convinced that, if we do it hand in hand with institutions such as Real Madrid, it will be a success. It is an exciting challenge. It is time to think big, and this club knows a lot about that."
José Luis Martínez-Almeida: "We will have one of the great driving forces behind the transformation of the city of Madrid"
"Where today there are 85 hectares of empty land, we will have one of the great driving forces behind the transformation of the city of Madrid, which will become the great digital hub of Europe."
