Di Stéfano made history in a Real Madrid shirt from 1953 to 1964, scoring 308 goals in 396 official matches. The greatest player of all time guided the Whites to five consecutive European Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, two Latin Cups, eight LaLiga titles, one Spanish Cup and one Small World Cup. He was also the top scorer in the Spanish league five times.

Official debut
Di Stéfano's first official match for Real Madrid came a few days later, on 27 September, in the third round of LaLiga against Racing Santander. Madrid fans saw his goalscoring instinct again, as he scored one of the goals in the 4-2 win. His great performances for Real Madrid were rewarded with the Ballon d'Or in 1957 and 1959. Subsequently, his career was recognised when he was awarded the only Super Ballon d'Or in history.
